Warehouses, then towers

Yaletown was the CPR's warehouse district before it became one of the densest residential neighbourhoods in the city. The heritage brick buildings along Hamilton and Mainland were converted to lofts; almost everything else is concrete and glass built since.

It is a walking neighbourhood. David Lam Park and the False Creek seawall are the front garden, the Roundhouse Community Arts & Recreation Centre is the living room, and the Canada Line at Yaletown–Roundhouse puts the airport in reach without a car.

Rental demand is consistently strong here, which matters if you are buying to hold. Read the depreciation report before you commit — building age and envelope history vary a great deal between towers.
