The dyke and the farm
Terra Nova occupies the north-west corner of Lulu Island, where Richmond runs out of city and into the Strait of Georgia. The West Dyke Trail traces the shoreline here, flat and open, with the water on one side and farmland on the other.
Most of the housing went up from the late 1980s onward — detached homes and townhouse complexes on a planned street grid, quieter than the No. 3 Road corridor and a good deal greener. It is level ground throughout, which makes it unusually easy to walk and cycle.
Nearby: Terra Nova Rural Park and its community garden plots, the West Dyke Trail, Terra Nova Village for daily shopping, and Quilchena Golf Course to the south.
